Elk Mound Middle School Announcements
May Newsletter - EMMS
ELK MOUND MIDDLE SCHOOL “WHERE KIDS COME FIRST” Chris Hahn,
As this is the last newsletter of the year, I would like to take this time and thank you, the parents, for your continued support of our school district. Your support is greatly appreciated!
Students of the Month
Congratulations to our students who achieved student of the week during the month of April. These students include Arabella Felton, Trent Thatcher, Violet Ehrike, Tamara Stamm, Regan Books, Trinity Stelter, Porter Anderson, and Brynn Salsbury. Way to go students!
End of the Year
It’s hard to believe fourth quarter is about half over. This is a reminder to encourage your child to put his/her best effort forward through the end of the school year. With warmer weather it can be difficult to make time for homework. Homework is a very important aspect of school and is the child’s responsibility to complete. A possible idea to support this idea is take two minutes per night and discuss the day’s happening to ensure all homework has been completed. Remember to finish the year strong!
Spring Concert
The spring concert is scheduled for May 20, 2025, at the high school gym. The 5 graders will begin at 5:15 pm, the 6th grade at 6:15 pm, and the 7/8 graders will begin at 7:15. We hope to see you there supporting our students. If you’re unable to attend, the event will be livestreamed.
Summer School Sign Up
Summer school sign up is in full swing. The district newsletter contains listings of all classes offered. Please encourage your child to participate, as summer classes are a great option to build upon a child’s academic success as well as building new relationships with students. We are offering a middle school academy this year with a lot of fun offerings that include band lessons, cooking, canning, dehydrating, paddleboarding, hiking, campsite setup and cooking, and more. We will offer transportation as well during these two weeks.
Archery Club
Our Archery Club recently completed it season. Ms. Erdman led the club and competed at the state archery tournament. Thank you to the many volunteers that helped with the archery club this year.
Dress Code
As warmer weather comes, we find students enjoy wearing summer clothes. Please remind your child all shorts, shirts and dresses are expected to meet the dress code. The dress code can be found in the student handbook. Thank you for your support.
Hot and Humid Weather May Mean Closing
We participate with Xcel Energy in the Peak-Controlled Rate (PCR) Program. We have agreed to reduce our demand for electric power (controllable load) to a predetermined demand level when Xcel Energy calls a control period. This is a very rare situation, but I wanted to remind everyone as we enter a warmer time of the year that this is a potential situation. If we are asked by Xcel to reduce our usage, we would do everything possible to keep students at school and reduce our energy usage at the same time.
First Day of School
The first day of school for students in the fall will be August 26. Please mark your calendars in advance and check the summer district newsletters for updates.
