MOUND VIEW ELEMENTARY
“A Positive Place for Kids”
Parent Newsletter, Week of April 28
Grandparent’s Day this Friday
May 2 will be Mound View’s annual “Grandparent’s Day” for students in grades K-4. We invite all grandparents to visit our school and share some time with their grandchildren. A short program is scheduled and grandparents will have the opportunity to view the numerous individual projects created by the students. Refreshments will be served starting at 1:00 pm with the program at 1:15 pm. We will be asking the students to keep the independent projects at school until the end of the day so all get a chance to see them. Projects can be picked up Monday, May 5 if needed. If you plan on having your child go home with a grandparent, we must have a permission slip on file.
We will again have a shuttle bus transporting from the Shepherd of the Hill Church. Please let any grandparents know about this option for parking. This seems to have worked well in the past. The bus will start picking up at noon in front of the church.
Independent Projects
We are looking forward to the Independent Projects being displayed for Grandparent’s Day. A reminder that the projects should come to school on Thursday before Grandparent’s Day and stay until Monday. The school will be open into the early evening on Thursday if you need to bring the project in after school.
Carnival Volunteers
The annual Carnival always is a great time for the students and highlight of the year. We are excited to be holding it on May 9! Plans for the Carnival are being finalized by the PTO, but they still need your help! There are still quite a few volunteer slots which need to be filled. Please log on and sign up for some time. The success of the Carnival depends on the volunteer efforts of the parents! If we don’t have volunteers, we can’t hold the Carnival! The log in information is included with this newsletter.
Cake Walk Alert!
We need cakes for the carnival! The success of the cake walk depends on the donations of cakes from parents. Please bring them in to the office on Thursday or Friday the week of the carnival. Thanks!
Kindness Challenge
We are having a Kindness Challenge for the month of April. We will be keeping track of all the kind acts our students do during the month. When we meet certain benchmarks, we will have some fun rewards for the students. We slimed Mr. Hanson last week and will have ice cream treats this week. Encourage your child to focus on being kind at school and at home!
Planetarium Visits
Students in grades K, 1, 3 and 4 were visited by a traveling planetarium last week from the Eau Claire Children’s Museum. Grade 2 will be rescheduled this week. Each class had a chance to go into the planetarium and see the night sky. A big thanks to the PTO for sponsoring the planetarium at our school!
4K and 5K Kindergarten
We finished up our visitations for 4K and 5K last week. If you know of a neighbor or friend who has a child who is planning on attending 4-year-old-kindergarten or regular kindergarten next year, please encourage them to contact the school. We would like to firm up our enrollment for the upcoming school year. Thanks!
Summer School
Parents will be receiving a schedule of summer opportunities offered by the school district. Please consider taking advantage of these opportunities by registering your child for one, or all, of the offerings. If you need more information, please contact the Mound View office.
Parent Square
The district has utilized the REMIND messaging system for the last few years. Next year we will be transitioning to a platform called “Parent Square.” You might start seeing some requests from them for summer school programs such as sports camps and other district communication.
