Mound View Elementary School, in partnership with family and community, is dedicated to providing a strong educational foundation for each student’s continued learning.
Principal’s Message…
Elk Mound is a community that has taken great pride in its schools. The district serves approximately 1,200 students, with 500 at Mound View. The district students are housed in three buildings which are all in close proximity to each other. This allows the district to share resources and offer unique experiences such as swimming to our students. The school board, administration and staff work to foster a collaborative partnership with parents and community. We have the privilege and responsibility to serve as facilitators for the nurturing and development of your amazing children; academically, physically, socially, and emotionally. We are committed to providing opportunities, which will assist children in making thoughtful and responsible decisions when solving problems. Thank you for your interest in Mound View Elementary. I look forward to getting to know you and your child personally. Please feel free to stop in and introduce yourself and contact me if you have any questions. We are here to help! Your partner in education - Eric Hanson

Appealing Curriculum
Reading
We believe in a balanced approach incorporating phonics with Whole Language principles. We individualize instruction through a "Guided Reading" program and "Words their Way" word study program. We promote writing through the "Units of Study" designed by Lucy Calkins.
Mathematics
We believe in developing a deep understanding of number-sense, basic facts and skills, and a problem-solving focus with our instruction. Our curriculum is “Eurek: A Story of Units” based on rigorous standards.
Enrichment Opportunities
We believe in the importance of educating the whole child. To accomplish this we value the special subjects of art, music and physical education. We also place an emphasis on technology and promote the use of technology in our instruction. Students grades 2-4 have access to Chromebooks continuously throughout the day.
School Management
We believe in a school management plan developed around eight character traits that allows the students to reflect upon their behavior. A daily morning message delivered by the principal reinforces these character traits. We believe in recognizing positive behavior.
